Trendy Christmas decoration

Perhaps you’ve already read our article about the latest Christmas decorating trend. Although this article was written last year, most of it still applies this year. The trend is still to create the feeling of glamour and luxury by using shiny, smooth, fluffy and silky detailing.

Black is still the dominant color. You can pair it with red, plum, silver, gold, bronze, turquoise or pink. This year’s pink is no longer fuchsia but a more subtle powder, or rose, pink. Supplement your two chosen colors with transparent glass or plastic and lots of reflective mirrors.

Use baubles creatively – not jut on the Christmas tree. Put them into large display bowls or hang them from the ceiling, picture rail or in the window (use fishing lines to create a dramatic effect like this):

You can make other kinds of installations – for example group a few baubles and hang them from the ceiling, at different heights, above your coffee table or in a corner. Here are couple of baubles for inspiration – remember to use only two main and one complementary colors. Mix shiny, transparent and fluffy materials such as these:

Wreaths and garlands are made of feather, pearls & silk:

Your Christmas tree should also be unusual. Either dress a plastic white tree with chic ornaments or use a feather, twig or metallic tree. Some of them are pre-lit with fibre-optics, some have color-changing lights in them:

Given that this look is not very colorful, lighting is very important to create different moods – but you have to make sure it’s still subtle and subdued. Ideally, use several lighting systems – from simple candles to color-changing systems that can create a specific mood. Place black or crystal candelabra around your home – particularly on your dining table. Choose a contemporary, traditional-modern or a classic version, such as these:

Finally, your dining table is the central stage for this look – so make sure the detailing is right. Continue with your chosen colors, and choose your tableware accordingly. Use lace & silk table-linen, crystal & colored glassware, silver cutlery, feather & glass drops on accessories.

Hopefully your Christmas decoration will look just as trendy as your home!
